The Buick Encore GX is a subcompact upscale crossover conceived and designed to help the brand continue its appeal to younger drivers. Despite its similar name and styling, the Encore GX is larger than the older Buick Encore and uses a different platform and powertrains.

What’s New/Key Changes From Last Year

There are no significant changes to the Encore GX for 2023.

Available Trims

Buick offers the Encore GX in Preferred, Select, and Essence trims. All are powered by turbocharged three-cylinder engines: a 1.2L in Preferred FWD, which comes matched with a continuously variable transmission; and a 1.3L in Preferred AWD and Select and Essence (both of which include AWD), which is mated to a nine-speed automatic gearbox.

Standard Features

Preferred trim comes with 18-inch wheels, auto on/off headlights, heated front seats, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, remote engine start, LED fog lights, six-speaker audio, single-zone A/C, an 8.0-inch touchscreen, passive keyless entry, and wireless smartphone integration.

Every Encore GX also gets forward collision mitigation, pedestrian detection, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, and automatic high beams.

Select adds a hands-free tailgate and dual-zone A/C.

Essence models gain LED taillights, a power front passenger seat, an auto-dimming mirror, leather upholstery, and a heated steering wheel.

Key Options

The Encore GX’s safety package adds adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitor, rear cross-traffic alert, lane change alert, and rear park assist.

An “experience Buick” bundle brings a panoramic roof and a different wheel design.

The advanced technology pack is where you’ll find adaptive cruise, navigation, surround vision, and a head-up display.

Fuel Economy

Buick’s fuel consumption estimates are 8.0/7.6 L/100 km (city/highway) with the 1.2L engine and FWD, and 9.0/8.2 L/100 km for the 1.3L/AWD powertrain combination.
